Early yesterday morning, equipped burglars who were around 12 attack a bank at the university town of Amassoma in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State and stole some Automated Teller Machines at the area. The looters who were outfitted with advanced weapons and dynamites got away through the waterways.
Sources from the community said:
"The equipped men tossed dynamites at the walls of the bank, bringing down its wall. They accessed the bank premises yet were not able get in after much attempt,"an onlooker said.
"They in this manner exploded the walls holding the ATM machines and carried off them." "We are currently under danger from hoodlums, attackers and criminals. In any case, the representative for the Bayelsa Police Command, Asinim Butswat, affirmed that the bank was assaulted with dynamites however denied that they stole ATM machines."
He said:
"On 12 March, 2016, at around 0035hrs, obscure shooters in three speedboats attacked Amassoma Police Division.
"Without further ado a short time later, the criminals assaulted a bank, harmed the ATM machines and endeavored to enter the bank, yet were repulsed by a fortified unit of policemen.
"No life was lost and cash was not stolen. Endeavors have been escalated to capture the escaping suspects. Examination is progressing."
