University of Limpopo students stuck outside campus

Numerous University of Limpopo students who were kicked out stayed stranded at the campus entry and adjacent shopping complex in the pouring precipitation on Wednesday evening.


Students remained by each other defying open solicitation police discouraging the path to the university.

This comes after the foundation issued an evacuation demand communicating that students forsake the campus, east of Polokwane, on Wednesday evening.

University preeminent Professor Mahlo Mokgalong said the university was closing the campus since its property was under attack.

"As a delayed consequence of the augmented wild student challenges on campus organization has suspended insightful tasks uncertainly," its delegate Kgalema Mohuba said.

The suspension is with speedy effect.

All students were advised to clear residences by 17:00, said Mohuba.

'I don't know where I'm going to rest'

"The decision was taken in light of a honest to goodness sympathy toward the prosperity and security of our students, staff and university property."

A couple of students continued running for spread under the area complex's housetop as the storm began.

Ntebaleng Mpetsi, a third year BCom Arts student from Attridgeville told News24 that she was stranded and had no spot to go.

"I don't know were am going to rest," she said.

Questions shot out around the country at universities after Higher Education and Training Minister Blade Nzimande reported that schools could develop charges by to 8%.
