Netherlands designer Lucie Majerus has created jewelry out of teeth; declaring teeth as the ‘human ivory’ due to its equality to wildlife horns.
The idea behind her jewelry collection is that “our bodies can be the source of “gems” of ornament, polished into beautiful but meaningful pearls.
Majerus used her own wisdom teeth and got two of her teachers at the Design Academy also to donate their wisdom teeth and in addition got her dentist to give her discarded teeth, which she used to create earrings, cufflinks and tie pins.
